This July, TNT Africa will launch its first TNT Original production never been seen before in Africa. The TNT Original slate offers a brand-new, original movies, premiering the first Saturday of every month, starting tomorrow, the 4th of July.

The first film to kick things off is Escape from Pretoria, based on the true story of Tim Jenkin (Daniel Radcliffe, Harry Potter) and Stephen Lee (Daniel Webber, The Dirt). The young, white South Africans were branded ‘terrorists’ after working covert operations for Nelson Mandela’s banned ANC. Incarcerated in Pretoria Central Prison’s maximum-security wing in 1978, they decide to send the apartheid regime a clear message by escaping.

With breathtaking ingenuity, meticulous surveillance, and some handy crafting skills, the movie follows them making a bid for freedom. The real Tim Jenkin, South African writer, former anti-apartheid activist, and political prisoner, commented, “I was worried the movie would take off in a certain direction, but it didn’t, and the movie turned out to be very electrifying and pretty close to the absolute truth!”

Escape from Pretoria is set to debut Saturday, 4 July, at 20:00 CAT on TNT Africa, DStv channel 137 and GOtv channel 16.
