Game developers Square Enix recently revealed a release date change for Final Fantasy XIV for the PlayStation 3 (PS3), originally scheduled to come out in early March 2011.

This massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) was launched on the Windows PC platform on 30 September 2010 and currently offers its service to customers in four languages, namely English, German, French, as well as Japanese.

“Rather than simply converting the current Windows PC version, it is our intention to include all the improvements we currently plan to meet customer expectations for the PS3 version. In order to do so, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the release timing of the PS3 version from our previous plan of early March 2011,” a Square Enix announcement read.

“The new release date will be announced swiftly upon final determination. We would like to thank customers and other related parties for their patience as they eagerly await the release of the PS3 version.”

The Japanese games developer and publisher also revealed that since the game has been launched for the PC, it has taken steps based on user feedback in order to provide gamers with a better experience. One of these steps includes a major version update in late November. It has also extended the free trial period until such time as it can present gamers with a plan, outlining a level of enjoyment that will satisfy both the company and its customers.
