Google has announced the release of the latest version of its Chrome web browser, which includes improvements in security, privacy, as well as graphics.

According to the search giant, its Chrome browser is now more secure, due to enhancements to its Safe Browsing technology. Besides protecting users from various malware and phishing websites, Chrome now also warns users before downloading some types of malicious files.

“We’ve carefully designed this feature so that malicious content can be detected without Chrome or Google ever having to know about the URLs you visit or the files you download,” explained Google software engineer, Adrienne Walker.

The latest version of Chrome also provides users with more control over the data that websites store on their PCs. This includes Flash Player’s Local Shared Objects (LSOs), previously only manageable using an online settings application on Adobe’s website. Walker stated that the company has worked closely with Adobe, in order to integrate Flash LSO deletion directly into Chrome, making it simpler for users to manage their online privacy.

The graphics capabilities of Chrome have been enhanced, as the latest release includes support for hardware-accelerated 3D CSS, meaning that users will obtain a “snazzier” experience whilst browsing certain web pages as well as some web apps that utilises 3D effects.

Google said that Chrome users will be automatically updated to this new version of Chrome in the coming days.

The search giant also recently unveiled its +1 button, enabling users to recommend web content (such as online reviews and recipes) to their friends and Google contacts.
