According to CVG, Sony's recently launched PlayStation Move motion controller hasn't been seeing the market penetration Sony had probably hoped for.

While the peripheral shipped one million Move controllers to retailers in North and Latin America, Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter said in a research note that, “Move sold well below expectations in its first month” and that data for October suggests a “modest second month”.

In his research note Pachter stated, “we estimate that Move has sold approximately 400 000 units in the US in its first six weeks on the market. Interestingly, the higher priced Kinect controller appears to have overtaken the Move controller in the sales race.”

A brighter future may be in store for the European market, as Sony claimed sales of “somewhere in the region of 1.5 million” in its first month of availability. Still, when comparing that to Kinect's one million units in ten days, it seems Sony is currently on the back foot in the motion control race.
