Sony SA has unveiled its new VAIO EH series of notebooks, which boasts either a 15.5 or a 17.3 screen, Core i5 processor, and, like the reviewed VAIO C series, a dash of stylish flair, in the form of a truss pattern texture on the top panel and palm rest.

The patterning, in which several small triangles form one large hexagon, covers the exterior as well as the palm rest of the notebook. The company has explained that the reasoning behind the inclusion of this patterning, is that it is meant to alleviate the presence of fingerprints and smudges, due to the three-dimensional texture.

Performance Power
The VAIO EH series comes equipped with second generation Intel Core processors, for adaptive performance; enabling users to seamlessly move from one application to another.
Additionally, the notebook’s enhanced processing power and built-in power efficiency is intended to enable sharp videos, responsive games and longer battery life between charges. The notebooks are furthermore equipped with Nvidia’s 410M GPU.
Convenience at a click
The VAIO EH series seems to be particularly geared towards making general computing more convenient and user friendly. To this end, the  series comes pre-installed with various applications and utilities, most of which launch at the touch of a button.
For example, the ‘web’ button grants quick web access, the ‘VAIO’ button launches the media gallery, an ‘assist’ button gives quick access to VAIO care, for troubleshooting, while the pre-installed PMB VAIO Edition software enables users to organise, create and share their photos and videos.
The VAIO EH series of notebooks have an isolation keyboard and numeric keypad, while a multi-gesture touch pad enables ‘flick’, ‘tap’ and ‘scroll’ gestures for easy navigation through web pages and application screens. This can be enabled or disabled as desired.
Sony has also recently launched the VAIO Z series, which will be available in August. The new VAIO EH Series is available from Sony dealers. The black VPCEH16 has an RRP of R6000, while the black and blue VPCEH18 has an RRP of R7500.
