An ADSL router is not something you’ll be telling all your friends about, because it’s hardly the sexiest pieces of computer hardware you’ll ever be buying, but it is probably one of the most important. When buying a router, forget about what the thing looks like. This is all about specs.

And so is the ADSL2 Barricade N Pro. It is designed for the home and office and is entirely platform independent (meaning you can run it on any computer). It combines an ADSL2/2+ Modem, a 4-port 10/100 LAN switch, a high speed wireless access point and a NAT/SPI firewall. Importantly, it has a web-based user interface that you can actually use, unlike many other routers out there. The router also serves as a WiFi access point (compliant with 802.11b/g/n draft v2.0 standards) allowing multiple users to connect to your network wirelessly and from there onto the Internet. Get it for R1399 (incl VAT) from Sahara Computers on 011-542-1000.

PROS
It is platform independent and the web based UI is very user-friendly.
CONS
It???s not the best looking router around and it is pricey.
