The miniMove Portable Boombox from Memorex is compact (229 x 114 x 178 mm) and sturdy, and comes with an easy-to-carry handle if you want to take your music with you.

The miniMove connects to any iPod, including the iPod Touch and iPod nano (but unfortunately not the iPhone), with your iPod also charging while playing. Although you can connect other MP3 players, Memorex does not provide the appropriate cable to do so.

Onboard you'll find a digital FM radio tuner, and switching between music played via your iPod and the radio is easy, thanks to the miniMove’s straightforward controls, as well as those found on the provided remote control. Unlike 99.9% of the world's devices, the radio's pesky antenna pulls out from the side instead of from the top, making it difficult to accommodate on a crowded desk. You'll need four AA batteries if you want to take it on the road.

While the sound coming from the two 2 Watt speakers is good and also loud, we did find the bass distorting at the higher volumes. There are four preset equalizer settings, but Memorex doesn't name them (e.g. Jazz, Rock, extra Bass), so you just have to go on what sounds best.

The Memorex miniMove Portable Boombox retails for about R765 (excl. VAT) at selected retail outlets, and is available in black, pink and teal. Call 083-453-5451 for more info.

PROS
Stylish and lightweight, easy to operate, handy remote.
CONS
Radio antenna comes out from the side, no iPhone compatibility.
