Huawei and Porsche Design have been working together for the past year, with the Porsche Design Mate 9 being one of the first devices the pair developed. Now, they've turned their attention to wearables, with a Porsche Design Smartwatch seeing the light of day.

The device goes on sale in the UK and Europe today, carrying with it a sizeable €795 (R12 030) price tag. For that, users will get a ceramic bezel and Porsche Design 1.2" watch face (390x390) that's said to be inspired by the instrument cluster of a Porsche sports car.

Along with the ceramic design, the Porsche Design Smartwatch is said to be more scratch-resistant than the normal Huawei Watch 2 it's based on, as well carrying an IP68 rating. It also features all the smartwatch elements as the standard Huawei version, with a real-time heart rate sensor, GPS tracking and a VO2 Max measurement.

It's unclear, and possibly unlikely, that the Porsche Design smartwatch will land in SA in any official capacity, especially given the Porsche Design Mate 9 has not made it here.
