For the past couple weeks, the LG G6 mini has been rumoured for release as the company's go-to mid-range device. As it turns out, the South Korean manufacturer does not simply have one new mid-range device on offer, but three, with the unveiling of a trio of Q6 branded phones

While they may not be called mini versions of the G6, they certainly bear a striking resemblance to the company's flagship device. More importantly, they integrate one of the G6's most important elements - the FullVision display with its 18:9 aspect ratio.

Delving deeper into the trio, they comprise of the Q6, Q6+ and Q6α. While all feature the same sort of form factor with a 5.5" Full HD (2160x1080), each device has its own little quirks and will be targeted at very specific consumers, according to LG.

To that end, the standard LG Q6 sits in the middle of trio and has a 3 GB RAM and 32 GB onboard storage. The slightly better specced Q6+ offers 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage, while the Q6α serves up 2 GB RAM and 16 GB memory.

The RAM and storage are the only real differentiators for this trio, with much of the rest being uniform across the board. As such, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 CPU is doing the heavy lifting, a 3000 mAh battery is embedded, 4G/LTE connectivity is available, and a 13 MP camera is on the rear with a 5 MP wide-angle up front. LG seems to have forsaken the dual-lens setup as found on last year’s mid-range K10.

Pricing for the devices is yet to be announced, with LG aiming to launch them in select Asian countries next month. As for when, and indeed if, all three Q6 smartphones will be landing in SA remains to be seen, with word from LG Mobile South Africa still forthcoming.
