Most of the wow factor for Nokia’s Windows Phone 8 operating Lumia smartphone range have emanated from the camera functionality, most strikingly conveyed by the Lumia 1020 flagship and its 41 MP rear-facing camera. The Finnish phone giant is now looking to provide some sound enhancements courtesy of the newly available Coloud Boom, Knock and Pop headsets, developed in collaboration with Swedish firm Zound Industries.
According to Nokia, the Boom’s closed ear design affords listeners a good level of sound isolation, whilst the large ear pads were designed to fit comfortably over an extended listening period. The Boom will deliver some added sound bang for an affordable R470 recommended retail price.
Like the Boom, the Coloud Knock are over-the-ears headphones, with the differentiator being its form factor. The design of the Knock is more ergonomical to allow for an easier portable music listening experience. This headset is lighter and more minimalistic but still sturdily built to withstand the pressures of everyday wear and tear. RRP: R390
Pop is the only in-ear headset in the Coloud range aimed at users who prefer not to lug around a wraparound headsets. Nokia stated that the angled ear buds that are included in the retail package offers users an enhanced level of comfort. RRP: R330
Each headset is equipped with the Zound Lasso, which is a flat, tangle-free audio cable that integrates a microphone for calls, as well as a control key for managing music playback remotely.
In related news, Nokia also recently announced another new entrant in the Lumia range - the Lumia 625, which boasts a large 4.7" (480 x 800; 201 ppi) touchscreen.
