It's been awhile since we've seen Apple debut a new MacBook Pro. The company's most recent product showcase underwhelmed slightly, with only an updated version of its USB-C sporting 12" model seeing the light of day. Perhaps then that's why these most recent rumours have been churned out. According to 9to5Mac (a reliable source in most cases), Apple is readying new 13" and 15" MacBook Pro models for release in Q4 this year. The website's lead source is Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, with several others confirming the reports.

Kuo notes that the new 2016 MacBook Pro models are the highlight of Apple's slated batch of releases for this year, providing not simply a facelifted product, but set to come with a few new components and features.

These will reportedly take the guise of an OLED touch bar located above the keyboard, along with touch ID support. Precisely what impact this will have on the interface and security features of the notebook remains to be seen. Added to these rumours is the usual slew of internal upgrades that Apple routinely integrates into its new hardware. It's believed that the 13" 2016 MacBook Pro will have a similar setup to its smaller 12" brethren, but Kuo did not detail if that included a USB-C port.

With a fair bit of time between now and Apple's September-dated product showcase, there will no doubt be more info forthcoming about the new MacBook Pros, not to mention the iPhone 7.
