An 18.4" Android tablet. Before you start thinking about how you're gonna fit that in your briefcase to take to work, the Galaxy View is designed for use in the home. Perhaps the modern day equivalent of TVs on the kitchen, or even portable DVD players, Samsung's Galaxy View is designed to do just that: Provide users with a great piece of glass to enjoy movie and TV content, according to the South Korean manufacturer.

The news of its unveiling would of been more of a surprise had numerous images of it not leaked earlier in the week, but nevertheless it is an intriguing device with its 18.4" (1920x1080) full HD display. It also has an interesting looking kickstand integrated into the back cover, as well as a hand hole for carrying, which may come in handy as it weighs a hefty 2.6 kg.

Inside, we find an octa-core processor clocked at 1.6 GHz, although the make is unknown, along with 2 GB of RAM and a choice between 32 GB or 64 GB of onboard storage, with a microSD slot thrown in for good measure. Perhaps most crucial for binge watchers, which seems the Galaxy View's primary consumer target, it features a 5700 mAh battery that delivers a listed eight hours of battery life. It also includes a 2.1 MP camera up front, which means it can also be used for video chatting.

On the entertainment front, the Galaxy View will run a number of content streaming apps (if the promotional image is anything to go by) with options like YouTube, Netflix, Hulu and Twitch. For now, the release date and pricing for the Galaxy View remains unknown.
