It’s good times over at Humble Bundle, especially if you’re after more cerebral fare, with three  intelligent Book Bundles currently on offer. The first one comes from one of our favourite comic book publishers, Fantagraphics; the second involves pop philosophy and the third is a good offering for video game creators.

The one for graphic novel fans

Fantagraphics is not your typical superhero publisher, having published greats such as Jim Woodring (the Frank series), Dan Clowes (Ghost World) and Joe Sacco (Palestine). There’s a number of good books in the Best of Fantagraphics bundle, and starting at $1 you can get six titles including the highly recommended Dungeon Quest Vol. 1 by local comic book creator (and former TechSmart collaborator) Joe Daly.

Tier 2, available from $8, includes six more books, including Ed Piskor’s award winning Hip Hop Family Tree Vol. 1, which tellsthe story of the early Hip-Hop scene.

Got $15 to spare? Tier 3 will bag you the final seven titles, arguably most importantly the elusive Zap Comix #16. Previously only available as part of an expensive box set, the grand finale of this highly influential underground comix features awesome Robert Crumb, filthy S. Clay Wilson, psychedelic Rick Griffin and mind-blowing Robert Williams.

Pop Philosophy

People often ask, what is the practical application of philosophy? The Fandom & Philosophy Book Bundle has the answer.

If you are wondering what the philosophy behind bands such as Metallica and Black Sabbath, superheroes such as Superman and Ironman, series including Family Guy and Star Trek, and video games such as Final Fantasy, are, this range of books will break it down for you.

One for the video game creators

Finally, thinking of creating video games? Unreal Engine & Unity 5 presented by Packt is the bundle to get. It features a heck of a lot of helpful information, with titles such as Unity 5.x By Example, Unity Virtual Reality Projects and Unreal Engine 4 Game Development Essentials up for grabs through the regular tier system.
