Last week, we went hands-on with LG's first 2017 flagship - the G6. At the press briefing, LG Mobile South Africa said the device would likely retail around the R14k mark, and carry a R14 629 RRP in particular. Now the G6 is on sale at a number of local carriers, including Vodacom and MTN, with LG Mobile South Africa dropping the recommended asking price to R12 099.

For those aiming to get themselves a LG G6 on contract during the month of April, LG will also be bundling the device with a 64 GB SD card and the company's own Tone Ultra bluetooth headphones. On top that that, access to select G6-optimised games will be available too.

Compared to some of the other flagship devices landing in coming months, the G6's R12k RRP is quite appealing, especially as the Samsung Galaxy S8 (arriving on 5 May) is set to retail for approximately R15 499. With both devices sporting longer display with 18:9 aspect ratios, the South Korean manufacturers will be squaring off to see who dominates locally.
