SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU DID NOT WATCH DAWN OF JUSTICE!

It appears as if Superman's encounter with Batman is Dawn of Justice left quite an impression on the Man of Steel, as the latest image courtesy of actor Henry Cavill showcases a far darker costume for 2017's Justice League film.

Cavill took to Instagram to share the image, which is a close up of the Kryptonian suit he'll likely be wearing for parts of the Justice League movie. This plays into fan theories that Superman would be wearing a black suit this time round, as seen on Zod and his fellow Kryptonians in Man of Steel, following his death at the hands of Doomsday in Dawn of Justice.

The reason for his wardrobe change is not abundantly clear at this stage, but seeing as how his blue and red version is likely damaged from a critical blow suffered against Doomsday, he'll need something new to wear.

We can't wait to see how the suit and indeed Superman will look in Justice, with many fans hoping that he'll sport a beard and mullet, as in the comics books, following The Death of Superman. While we can't speak to the latter, Superman does look a lot cooler in the black version of his suit from Man of Steel compared to the blue and red version.

Also interesting to see is whether this version of Superman will be more surly and violent than his previous showing, which was also a factor that played out in the comic book version of the black suit (sans cape) wearing Kal-El.
