It’s not only Samsung’s Galaxy S3 smartphone flagship that has been a tremendous sales success for the company. The Korean tech firm’s Galaxy Note II phablet managed to hit three million sales mark in the first 30 days of its availability.

The phablet (smartphone-tablet-hybrid), which was only recently launched in South Africa, is selling at around three times the rate of its predecessor. However, its sales rate is not quite up there with the Galaxy S3, which sold at around 190 000 units worldwide per day to reach ten million in just two months.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note II features a 5.5" HD (720 x 1280 resolution; 267 ppi) Super AMOLED screen, which offers some additional screen real estate for note-taking and drawing via the S pen that now sports 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity. The Note II is powered by a 1.6 GHz Exynos 4412 quad-core processor and boasts a full 2 GB of memory, enabling it to deliver buttery smooth performance within Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).

In related news, Juniper Research recently revealed its figures for smartphone shipments during Q3 2012, showing that Samsung shipped a record 56.3 million smartphones, nearly twice the market share of its main rival, Apple, which sold 26.9 million iPhones.
